The open workshop — one exhibit
One construct's construction record, standing at its own stable address. The register's laws travel with it: entries are operator-declared and dated as of 2026-10-21 — never auto-asserted; the subject is the construct — never you: reading this page records nothing about anyone (E-only, standing). The full record: /sx/workshop.
Exhibit — The Quad Slip, held
lifecycle: draft · The Foundations · 2 — the second exhibit of the foundations series: the Quad Slip, the third instrument of the series of ten, admitted second at the operator's word (2026-09-15), locked in its own time and given the context of the locks that followed. Two locks separated by time: the GROWN entry is the record as it fell, quoted verbatim and never contested, its refutations kept as they fell; the OFFLOAD entries name the later closed locks that now carry part of its weight, direction and weight stated, never restating a count; the WALK is an offer, not a condition. Validated by the locks, never by the reader: a reader's curiosity is welcome and is not required for the knowledge to be what the locks say it is.

The Foundations · 2 · the experiment: opendata.ai/quad-slip · the return: grown · held — the reading /sx/reading/the-quad-slip-held, granted 2026-09-15, returns to the experiment; its door wears the word while the grant stands

| 2026-09-15 | SEAL | The intent sealed before the writing — the second exhibit, at his word The exhibit's intent is the design note's rule, sealed before any editorial word: lock the experiment in its own time without contest (the GROWN entry, first and never amended, its refutations quoted as they fell); give it the context of the external locks that followed as metabolic offload, never informational linkage (OFFLOAD entries, each from a lock that is itself closed, its direction and weight stated, never restating a count); offer a walk a reader may take or leave (WALK); say which lock validates what; assume no curiosity of the reader. The commission and its place, at the operator's word the same day, verbatim: 'ok - that works well. I would now want something of this kind for the quad slip.' — the Quad Slip stands second in the series, ahead of the note's tier-one order; the order is his, exhibit by exhibit. The OFFLOAD and WALK entries are the operator's hand and are not yet written. |
| 2026-09-15 | GROWN | The grown lock — the Quad Slip as it fell THE PLAIN LINE. Four figure-2 slips share one centre in three dimensions: the double slip's facing pair, and that pair again turned a quarter-turn about the vertical; two gaps are read at the centre, one along each axis, and their difference is lifted onto the vertical — zero while the four are congruent, lifting when the symmetry breaks; at one pinned calibration the lift is a featureless ramp that, read through a four-decimal floor, shows an origin, five zeros, and then the first bit at lap 137. THE RECORD, VERBATIM (oxexp-quad-slip-design.md §9, the series result): "at one specific calibration the quad slip stops being a demonstration and becomes an instrument — a pre-spacetime ground, an ontologically pure 'is'." The calibration, pinned: "mask (2,0,3,1), x_sep = z_sep = 1.575, z_detune = 1.1e-7 (0.00000011), readout 4 dp, laps = 1024, yellow construct … parameter-free and deterministic, so it always returns the identical reference row (90 catches, y-projection 0.0004, the 6-node ground)". What it produces: "a featureless linear coherence ramp — the pure 'is', carrying no spacetime content of its own, only a rate ∝ z_detune. Read through the 4-dp floor it presents as a pre-spacetime frame: an a-priori origin — the first node (lap 1) …; 5 pre-spacetime zeros — sub-readout nodes (was = is, no differentiation): 1 + 5 = 6 nodes on y = 0; then the onto-epistemic bit resolves — differentiation begins (was → is) at the bit-onset lap (137 at this calibration), in a regular ~10 segments per epoch staircase of growing amplitude." Its discipline, verbatim: "the 6 and the ~10 are calibration outcomes of beat × z_detune × readout-dp, robust over a detune band — not asserted constants." THE SWEEP, carried whole (§9, Pi = the readout precision): dp 3 → bit-onset 1178, depth 52 · dp 4 → 137, depth 6 = 1 + 5 · dp 5 → 12, depth 2 · dp 6 → 2, depth 1. THE REFUTATIONS KEPT as they fell (§6, §8): the 735 = 35×21 crossing "lived entirely in the readout precision — a vivid instance of the determinism floor: at the 4-dp readout it 'happens,' at full precision it dissolves"; the golden-mean mode-locking conjecture — "The data says no … the y-projection is a linear beat between two uncoupled clocks. The null result is therefore structural, not incidental." THE COHERENCE HORIZON (§6): "break_lap ∝ 1/δ (δ = 1e-6 → 13, 1e-7 → 129, 1e-8 → 1281)" — its reading marked interpretive in the record: "the confinement is epistemic (the observability horizon), not ontological (the slip exists from lap 1)". ITS STATE ON THE NODE: the door /quad-slip, state live (the instrument runs on request; nothing a reader does enters the record); the platform singleton on the live OX node, its baseline row reproducible by the page's own button. NO EXTERNAL ANCHOR: the Quad Slip predates the mldata anchoring practice and carries none; this entry says so rather than borrowing a later one. |
| 2026-09-15 | READING | The reading grant given — The Quad Slip, held (draft 0.1) readable; the grant returns to the experiment The operator's word, verbatim: 'ok - that works well. I would now want something of this kind for the quad slip.' The mint, the Slip's pattern: draft 0.1 made readable at /sx/reading/the-quad-slip-held with THE READING PLAQUE (a draft, not the published form; the grant word carried verbatim; covering starl3n, endorsing Link Digital; the construction record linked), carrying what the exhibit holds today — the plain line, the grown lock verbatim from the record with its refutations kept, the standing (a held fact, not a held opinion, until someone stands up in the record to refute it; the refutation door the matters of note) and the return; the OFFLOAD and WALK entries are the operator's hand and land as 0.2, and the reading says so rather than asserting from locks it does not yet name. THE RETURN: the grant comes back to the experiment — the door /quad-slip on the observatory node wears GROWN · HELD on its register line, in its masthead and on the map, linking this reading, and the front page's Foundations strip lists it second; chrome only, by the closed-lock rule (the word shows while this grant is readable and never before; withdraw the grant and the word goes with it), the record never re-entered. |
| 2026-09-16 | DECISION | The explainer trued to the experiment — draft 0.2 The operator's word, verbatim (given for both slip readings): 'I'd like both the slip and the quad slip explainers to be more about the actual experiments they are explaining and less about the methodological approach by which the experiments are held within the house.' Draft 0.2 minted the same day: the reading now explains the Quad Slip — the four slips and their centre, the two gaps and the y-differential, the controls (the placements, the detune, the readout precision the record calls Pi, the laps), the precision floor twice (the dissolved crossing; the coherence horizon and its reciprocity, the record's interpretive reading marked as such), the mode-locking test and its null result with the fork it surfaces, the series result (the pinned calibration, the reference row, the six-node ground and the bit-onset at 137, the Pi table, the quintic reading and the hypothesis each marked as the record marks them), where it sits, its state on the node. The house's method is the plaque's, the design note's and this exhibit's, and is no longer restated in the body beyond one closing paragraph (the reader clause's seventh point). Draft 0.1 (pin 55a92d4b…, 2026-09-15) superseded, never erased — retained at reading/superseded/; the grant of 2026-09-15 stands and the register's version, file and pin move to 0.2. |
| 2026-09-16 | DECISION | The baseline's place in the series — draft 0.3 The operator's word, verbatim: 'for the quad slip explanation, I'd like it to cover why the baseline is the setting of most interest for the follow on experiments in the series of 10. The attached image shows the reason graphically.' — the image the page's own y-projection trace at the baseline beside the pre-spacetime baseline card. Draft 0.3 minted the same day with one new section, Why the baseline is the setting that matters: the trace read as a ruler rather than a wobble (three pairs flat on the zero line — the six nodes; then from lap 137 the swings in epochs, five up and five down at one height, each epoch one level step higher, the heights cut by the four-decimal floor; every landing a catch lap of the substrate); the three properties that make it the calibration (the same for everyone — parameter-free, deterministic, the button so no hand-set run perturbs the reference; an address for every later reading — the frame's epoch, position, amplitude, elapsed, with landmarks on the substrate's comb, 137, 237, 499, 952, 1867; and the ground the follow-on instruments read, each in its record's own words — the Hinge 'the first experiment to use the pinned quad-slip baseline as an instrument', its horizons all catch laps of the baseline; the Double Hinge's being at the unit difference 'lap 137 — the ground's own first bit' and Pi 4 the baseline's own readout; the Quad Hinge's two double hinges folding on the same baseline; the XOR's 'being = 137 = the baseline's own bit-onset' and the ladder 137 → 237 → 499 → 952, the quintic flip where the horizon spills past the 1024-lap budget; the XOR Mirror's origin at 137 against the floor 116.7; the Channel's instruments each a quad slip, the rate 0.25 at the pinned 2^10 baseline, the capacity log2 137; the Coco's comb read on the baseline instrument); and the three inherited numbers — 137, 1024, 4 dp — as the ground of the back half of the series. Draft 0.2 (pin 43604668…) superseded, never erased — retained at reading/superseded/; the grant of 2026-09-15 stands and the register's version, file and pin move to 0.3. |
| 2026-09-16 | DECISION | The baseline's detune stated precisely — draft 0.3 restamped The operator's word, verbatim: 'it is now 1e-7 it is specifically 1.1e-7' — the baseline's detune is 1.1e-7 (0.00000011), the pinned value, and the reading must not let the record's 1e-7 coherence-horizon probe read as the baseline. Restamped the same day: the coherence-horizon paragraph names the probe as a probe (δ = 1e-7 with the wide mask, the break at lap 129) and says the baseline below is not that probe — its detune specifically 1.1e-7, its crossing with the mask (2,0,3,1) the bit onset at lap 137; the calibration line and the baseline section carry the value with its decimal form. The first 0.3 mint (pin 14855922…) is superseded by this restamp, never erased — retained at reading/superseded/ as the first mint; the grant of 2026-09-15 stands and the register's pin moves. |
| 2026-09-16 | DECISION | The figures placed — draft 0.4 re-minted at his word The operator's word, verbatim: 'please go ahead with updating the foundations set of 15 readings with the visuals as planned. progress all of the non screenshot suggestions first.' The reading re-minted as draft 0.4 with 3 figures placed in its body at the sections they explain — each figure a static drawing built by ooi_social/figures/r02_quad_slip.py from the record's own numbers (the engines run on 2026-09-16 where a chart needed a series the record gives only in summary; the record's pinned values otherwise), captioned with its source and marked measured or the record's overlay as the record marks it, served from the SX surface's own store and pinned by sha256 in the grant beside the body; the the-quad-slip-held-draft-0-3.md body kept in reading/superseded/, never erased; the grant stands — a re-mint is not a re-grant. The screenshots the review proposed are the operator's hand and are not placed; the reading's draft-state block says so. |
