The whole point of a mathematical mark is that it keeps what matters. Write "5" and you have five — not five sheep or five debts or five regrets, but the fiveness that all of them share, which is exactly what arithmetic needs. In the received picture, notation is a transparent window: abstraction succeeds by shedding particulars, and what it sheds was never mathematics' business. A mathematician will also tell you, correctly, that any many-to-one function loses information — that is elementary. The scope: the measured claim is about this fold machinery. The reading — that the scribe's clay mark, and every ledger since, performs this same fold on the world it records — is the operator's, marked as a reading under the conjecture 1 = O + C + E.
You arrived holding that notation is a window — that the mark keeps what matters and what it sheds is hygiene, not cost. That picture still runs all of arithmetic, and nothing here dented it.
What the record added: for the fold this series runs on, the shedding has an exact size.
