The Unlearning

What the conjecture 1 = O + C + E asks the reader of mathematics to give up — and what it hands them to hold. Five received positions, stated fairly; five registered results; five scoped statements to carry out — and one live register running beneath it all, because a law shown here must be shown living.

THE READING PLAQUE — standing, provenance, and the laws

The mint. THE UNLEARNING at construct 0.6 — this landing and its five episode pages, granted together on 2026-09-07 under the operator's word: "ok - that gets a reading grant for the public sx surface." RESTAMPED at construct 0.6 (2026-09-07, the operator's word): the conjecture's terms corrected to the LDD Reference's own definition — O the observable (the state readable within a frame), C the communicable (the account carried between frames), E the effectual (the differential that changes the account); RK-1, RK-2. The 0.5 mint is superseded by this restamp, never erased. Each episode is granted at its own address beside this landing, and the register pins every page's hash. Readable is not the published form: nothing is staked by reading, and nothing is measured about anyone — the pages perform no egress (the one linked asset is the node's own token sheet at /sx/assets/ooi-tokens.css, same-origin, with literal fallbacks carried inline).

The garden. The working masters remain in the operator's private working garden (ooi_social/ldx/docs/unlearning/, beside the series design master); this mint is the public-plane copy, superseded never erased as the series grows. Grown 0.1 → 0.6 across 2026-09-06/07 at the operator's word each step: the five episodes and the Jitter Strip; the textbook re-growing at his direction (FOR THE NEW UNLEARNER at each start, FOR THE LEARNER at each end); the look from the node's own token system; the conjecture's terms trued to the Reference.

The laws. Deterministic throughout — no randomness anywhere; every motion is churn inside a pre-laid alignment. Every load-bearing number is a landed, archived figure (mldata.opendata.ai, cited inside each episode's RECORDS & FENCES panel); schematic drawings are labelled as schematic. The separation law governs the form: a law shown here is shown LIVING — the register never stops — never stored. The firewall rides every frame: no claim on any Millennium Prize problem, ever; no claim about π's normality; no claim over the prime numbers' own laws; no claim over quantum mechanics, physical cosmology, machine learning's own results, consciousness, or phenomenal experience, ever. The operator's readings are his own, carried as his. Acts, never eyes.

"Too much of mathematics is written as memory and proof and too little of it is considered as 'held' against the indifference of the 'actual' universe. … logic, and the held conjectures of mathematicians are all 'of a kind' that is the kind of thing that reality is existent within." — the operator, September 2026 · THE SEPARATION LAW: mathematicians live in the real world; the things they propose into canon must ultimately live there too.

First, what the discipline holds — stated fairly

Before anything can be unlearned it has to be laid out as it is actually learned, and the standard picture of the number line deserves a fair statement, because it is a very good picture. In the working account a mathematician carries: the real line is a completed, observer-independent object — a complete ordered field, every point already in place before anyone looks. Counting and marking are free: the naturals can be built from nothing (a successor rule, or sets), the integers by symmetry, and writing the mark "5" costs nothing and loses nothing that matters — the whole virtue of abstraction is that the mark carries everything relevant. Zero is the additive identity — historically hard-won, now weightless. The direction of the line is a convention with no content. Constants such as √2 and π are timeless definitions; between two real numbers there is no "before." A census taken over a fixed sequence is a fact about that sequence. And what a definition excludes stays excluded: boundaries in mathematics do not act back.

Nothing in this series asks you to reject a theorem. Every theorem built on that picture stands exactly where it stood. The series asks a different question: what does that picture itself cost, and what does it quietly assume about the one doing the reading?

What the series actually does

Each episode takes one piece of the received picture and holds it against a registered computational record: experiments in one instrument family — registers grown along a line, folded by the difference operation |a − b|, censused through fixed grid alignments — whose hypotheses were frozen and archived before the runs, whose refutations are reported first, and whose every number is on the public archive (mldata.opendata.ai; each episode's RECORDS & FENCES panel cites its datasets). The measured claims are deliberately narrow: they are about the instruments, never about the discipline's theorems. Where a larger reading is offered — that these measured structures exhibit the conjecture's decomposition at work in any observer's reality, under 1 = O + C + E: reality, taken for an observer as the unit, decomposing exactly into what is observable (the state that stands readable within a frame), what is communicable (the account that can be carried between frames), and what is effectual (the differential that changes the account) — it is the operator's conjecture, stated in the LDD Reference (Linked Digital Dynamics: an observer referential framework for co-constructive optimism; RK-1, RK-2), and it is always marked as a reading, never presented as a result.

How to read an episode. Each of the five opens with FOR THE NEW UNLEARNER — a plain-language account of what the discipline holds on that episode's question, what the piece will show, and how to watch the animation. The deck in the middle is the piece itself; its captions say what is on screen and what it does and does not establish. Each episode ends with FOR THE LEARNER — a considered close: what you held coming in, what the record showed, and the precise, scoped statement you can now carry out, with its fence attached.
The register at the bottom of every page. The strip running below is THE JITTER STRIP — a live Ducci register: at each step every cell is replaced by the absolute difference with its neighbour, a[i] ← |a[i] − a[i+1]|, the sign discarded. (The Ducci map is an object the discipline studies in its own right; its theorems belong to the discipline — here it is machinery.) Watch it long enough and you will see the pattern the whole series is about: churn → jitter → settle → hold. There is no randomness anywhere in these pages — every motion is deterministic churn inside an alignment laid before the frame opened. When the register settles, that is one micro-blink; then it re-seeds and runs again. It never stops.

The five episodes

Episode 1 · the origin

The Quarter, Paid

unlearn: counting is free; zero is nothing — a machinery in which the line's orientation has an exact, measured price (one bit), the zero has a drawn geometry, and the price decays from the boundary on a registered schedule.

Episode 2 · the mark

The Fold That Forgets

unlearn: notation is neutral; the record is lossless — one fold step, and the exact count (53.632 bits; ~1.4 × 10¹⁶ histories) of what a single mark can no longer tell apart.

Episode 3 · the observer

Same Cells, Different Grid

unlearn: measurement reveals the object alone — one unchanged line; the census flips with one cell of alignment, and the dependence is itself lawful: a period-2, then period-3 ladder, ordered 36 grids out of 36.

Episode 4 · the constants

√2 Before π

unlearn: constants are eternal givens — one walk, two readouts: the √2 ledger closes to seventeen digits while the census toward π is still descending. An order of arrival, inside the instrument's frame.

Episode 5 · the boundary

The Excluded Returns

unlearn: what you exclude stays excluded — four documented returns, told from the public record, and one registered in-house; the grammar ends on Brahmagupta's move: admit the sign.
