The open workshop — one exhibit

One construct's construction record, standing at its own stable address. The register's laws travel with it: entries are operator-declared and dated as of 2026-10-21 — never auto-asserted; the subject is the construct — never you: reading this page records nothing about anyone (E-only, standing). The full record: /sx/workshop.

Exhibit — The Slip, held

lifecycle: draft · The Foundations · 1 of 6 — the first exhibit of the foundations series: the Slip, the first instrument of the series of ten, locked in its own time and given the context of the locks that followed. Two locks separated by time: the GROWN entry is the record as it fell, quoted verbatim and never contested; the OFFLOAD entries name the later closed locks that now carry part of its weight, direction and weight stated, never restating a count; the WALK is an offer, not a condition. Validated by the locks, never by the reader: a reader's curiosity is welcome and is not required for the knowledge to be what the locks say it is.

The exhibit's intent is the design note's rule, sealed before any editorial word: lock the experiment in its own time without contest (the GROWN entry, first and never amended); give it the context of the external locks that followed as metabolic offload, never informational linkage (OFFLOAD entries, each from a lock that is itself closed, its direction and weight stated, never restating a count; a contradiction is a refutation for the record's own path, not an offload); offer a walk a reader may take or leave (WALK); say which lock validates what; assume no curiosity of the reader. The OFFLOAD and WALK entries are the operator's hand and are not yet written.

2026-09-15GROWNThe grown lock — the Slip as it fell
THE PLAIN LINE. Two points leave the same origin at the same speed on two different loops; the shorter loop walks the other's phase back each lap, and where the two coincide the count lands on the same 4×21 grid the substrate proposed from a different route. THE RECORD, VERBATIM (oxexp-slip-design.md §6): "At multiples of 2×21 = 42 the count is exactly 4, 8, 12, 16 — 4 catches per 2×21, clean to ~cycle 13 (each ~45-lap beat-cluster falls in one 42-lap bin). So 4×21 = 84 reads exactly 8 — two clusters, one full matrix. The clean run ends where the beat (45.28) finally drifts off 2×21 = 42: a finite coherence window, not an eternal resonance. Deterministic, reproducible (the /slip 4×21 grid + the generator)." And: "The substrate proposes the 4×21 NodeMatrix (8:5:8) from the confinement geometry; the slip lands on the same 4×21 from an independent route (the coincidence count). That convergence of two independent routes on 4×21 is the support: the matrix is not asserted — it is where the slip's readout becomes whole." THE SWEEP, carried whole: laps 21 · 42 · 63 · 84 · 105 · 126 · 147 · 168 → catches 4 · 4 · 8 · 8 · 12 · 12 · 15 · 16. THE DISCIPLINE carried with it: the counts are measured and test-pinned; the onto-epistemic identification is the record's own interpretive line and is quoted as such. ITS STATE ON THE NODE: the door /slip, state live (the instrument runs on request; nothing a reader does enters the record); the platform singleton exp_b61c9577 on the live OX node. NO EXTERNAL ANCHOR: the Slip predates the mldata anchoring practice and carries none; this entry says so rather than borrowing a later one.

2026-09-15DECISIONThe five questions answered — the pin's word, and the sixth clause
The design note's five open questions answered at the operator's word, the same day. The pin's word is GROWN · HELD: grown on OX, the experiment in its own time; held as fact on the accord node until someone stands up inside the record to refute it — a held fact, not a held opinion, because the OOI is the operator's own social anchor in a world of projected social epistemology and the knowing that follows an experiment is a secondary effect. That answer gave the rule its sixth clause: every exhibit names the door through which a refutation enters (a statement of intent on the record, at the matters of note), and a refutation that arrives goes to the record's own supersession path, never to the exhibit. The slug form the-slip-held stands (one kebab segment, the address law). Offloads from the contributed instruments are admitted only under a granted reading of their own and stated as the contributor's lock. The Unlearning offloads one entry per episode that bears (for the Slip, episode three). The Foundations becomes its own series on the shelf, numbered in the build order, by a sheet act when the first grant lands.

2026-09-15READINGThe reading grant given — The Slip, held (draft 0.1) readable; the grant returns to the experiment
The operator's word, verbatim: 'for this i would like to see the grant return to the experiment. I am less concerned with docs and mldata in this case.' The mint: draft 0.1 made readable at /sx/reading/the-slip-held with THE READING PLAQUE (a draft, not the published form; the grant word carried verbatim; covering starl3n, endorsing Link Digital; the construction record linked), carrying what the exhibit holds today — the plain line, the grown lock verbatim from the record, the standing (a held fact, not a held opinion, until someone stands up in the record to refute it; the refutation door the matters of note) and the return; the OFFLOAD and WALK entries are the operator's hand and land as 0.2, and the reading says so rather than asserting from locks it does not yet name. THE RETURN: the grant comes back to the experiment — the door /slip on the observatory node wears GROWN · HELD on its register line, in its masthead and on the map, linking this reading, and the front page's Foundations strip lists it; chrome only, by the closed-lock rule (the word shows while this grant is readable and never before; withdraw the grant and the word goes with it), the record never re-entered. For this case the first operated lock is the grant itself returning — the accord node holding the experiment as fact — not an offload onto a document or an mldata anchor; the Slip predates the anchoring practice and says so.

2026-09-16DECISIONThe explainer trued to the experiment — draft 0.2
The operator's word, verbatim: 'both of the slip readings currently include house dogma as part of the explanation, but the house has reading plaques and house conventions in place already for these things in practice, so they do not need to be restated too verbosely within an actual experiment explanation. I'd like both the slip and the quad slip explainers to be more about the actual experiments they are explaining and less about the methodological approach by which the experiments are held within the house.' Draft 0.2 minted the same day: the reading now explains the Slip — what it is (A and B, the two loops, the slip and the beat, the mask and the catch), what a run does and records, the 4×21 phase-lock with its sweep, the record's interpretive line marked as such, the 6×6 landing and the Feynman-region readout as the record marks them, what is deliberately not in it, where it sits in the series, its state on the node. The two-locks rule, the reader clause, the standing and the return are the plaque's, the design note's and this exhibit's, and are no longer restated in the body beyond one closing paragraph — the rule now written as the reader clause's seventh point. Draft 0.1 (pin f811e28e…, 2026-09-15) superseded, never erased — retained at reading/superseded/; the grant of 2026-09-15 stands and the register's version, file and pin move to 0.2.

The operator's word, verbatim: 'please go ahead with updating the foundations set of 15 readings with the visuals as planned. progress all of the non screenshot suggestions first.' The reading re-minted as draft 0.3 with 3 figures placed in its body at the sections they explain — each figure a static drawing built by ooi_social/figures/r01_slip.py from the record's own numbers (the engines run on 2026-09-16 where a chart needed a series the record gives only in summary; the record's pinned values otherwise), captioned with its source and marked measured or the record's overlay as the record marks it, served from the SX surface's own store and pinned by sha256 in the grant beside the body; the the-slip-held-draft-0-2.md body kept in reading/superseded/, never erased; the grant stands — a re-mint is not a re-grant. The screenshots the review proposed are the operator's hand and are not placed; the reading's draft-state block says so.
