THE READING PLAQUE. Followed Exclusively by One, a reading at 5 — draft 0.1, 28 October 2026 — the inside draft of the Collatz conjecture as the author's held conjecture: his five texts of the day and his sixth as the reading's meta, carried verbatim; the two confinements read under 1 = O + C + E; the hold and the gate placed beside what the observatory node has measured of them — the Hallway's two accounts at twice the quantum and its signed zero at 3/2, the Coco's "2 locks 1", the Quad Hinge's shared zero, the Ruler's scale, the Channel's edge, the Equivocation's dyadic epoch with its refutation, the XOR's sponge — and the agreement a proof is made of; read from inside the Objective Observer Initiative for a reader who would take the seat at five, and places three plates where a thing is better seen than told. One · The seat this reading takes

• The house's reading carriage maps four seats, −1, −0, 1 and 0 — the absence identified, the absence signed, the walk that grows it, the held release — and leaves its reader in none of them (the practice is laid out in Knowledge Engineering). A reading at 5 is written for the reader who would take the fifth seat inside the initiative: it keeps the operator's words, the house's readings and the open seats in view, so that the manner of the reading can be appreciated and not only its results. His word for where this reading stands, verbatim: "This 'is' where social epistemology confines onto-epistimology. It is at the reading taken at five for those that would occupy the seat at five."
• What is read is a held conjecture, in the genre The Price of a Lock names in its fifth section: checkable fragments, measured fragments, and the whole held and never staked. The conjecture is the operator's — a justified true belief built from the house's knowledge, informed by the record and never limited by it. The house's part is the identifier: for each of his sentences it names the line on the record the sentence is of a kind with, and the measure, where one exists, that line carries. It returns no verdict on any sentence of his. Where the mathematical register would say something, the reading says it as a fact of that register, beside his sentence, and never as a judgement over it.
• Two readers are expected here. The first takes the seat at five to see how a held conjecture is carried without being staked: what the record can hold for it, what the record has measured, and what is left as an absence with a name. The second is the reader who would walk one of those absences and sign toward the matter. For both, the ordinary statement of the problem is stated once, in the next part, so that the reading never pretends the problem is other than it is.
• The fence, stated first so that it stands over every sentence after it: the house computes no orbit of the map as a result of this reading, asserts no proof in the mathematical register, and makes no claim over any prize. The conjecture has been verified by others for every start to 2^71 and is not proven; this reading changes neither fact.

Two · The matter of business

• The problem, in its ordinary statement: take any positive whole number; if it is even, halve it; if it is odd, triple it and add one; repeat. The conjecture, open since Lothar Collatz posed it in 1937, is that every start reaches 1. The externality's record on the day of this reading, read as data and never as a verdict: every start to 2^71 reaches 1 (Barina and others, The Journal of Supercomputing, 2025, the milestone dated 15 January 2025), which its authors state is not a proof; almost all orbits attain almost bounded values (Tao, 2019), a density statement that settles no single integer; any cycle other than the one through 1 would be at least 17,087,915 steps long (Eliahou, 1993); no proof is accepted.
• The matter of business, in the operator's words, verbatim, his spelling: "to provide a proof of the Collatz conjecture via a co-constructive reduction to equilibrium based on the confinement of two logical priors, causally ordered ordered as N=(N-1)+1 prior to 0=N-N at state 0, the prior folding into state 0 as 0=((N-1)+1)-((N-1)+1) as state 1 as the 'mathematically and computational centrality of knowing'. That is, where state 0 and any state 1+k must hold as an equilibrium between the definition of 0 and 1 at three triadically folded state 0, state 1 and state 1+k." And: "This definition being the 'distance of 1' where 0<i<1 for all states in the set i/!k."
• His five texts stand whole on the exhibit, /sx/workshop/the-chicken-and-the-egg, each at its own address, and this reading quotes them in part: the proof as given, with its four steps and its single rule, "(t at state 1)= (t at state 0)+(t as state 2)"; the dyslexic bit, "(n at t1)= ((3n at t0)-(n at t2) where -1<n<0"; the matter of business above; the exclusion and the flip flop, "the dyslexic bit the flip flop of 2/5 on the left vs 5/2 on the right"; and the causal interior of 2, "2 is the reduction to a 'known' equivocation between 2/5 and 5/2". • The sentence the reading is built around is the last of his sixth text, given as the meta for this reading and carried as his: logical proof "is neither about being, knowing or computing, but about 'agreeing' that 0, 1, 2 is followed exclusively by 1." That is the set his first text names, (0, 1, 2, 1): the ought-to set of the first confinement, and the return. The reading's three middle parts take it in that order — the why of the set, the how of the return as the observatory has measured it, and the agreement.

Three · The why — the set, under 1 = O + C + E

• The overarching held conjecture, in his words of the evening: the proof is "reduced under the greater and overarching 'held' conjecture that 1 = O + C + E such that there is no other definition of 1 where the Collatz conjecture would not be proven." The definition of 1 is on the record: The LDD Reference reads reality for an observer as the unit, 1 = O + C + E, and The Katz Equilibrium names the three faces — an observable, a communicable and an effectual. The reading carries his universal clause as his, held: the record holds the definition, not the clause.
• The first confinement is the scale agreed. N = (N−1)+1 is the Ruler's own sentence — the-rlx-held holds "for any integer N, N = (N-1)+1" as the agreement two blind watchmakers reach on a scale, never on the second lock; the instrument stands at opendata.ai/rlx. Under 1 = O + C + E it is the observable and the communicable: a unit that can be seen and said. His 'ought to set' (1−1, 1, 1+1) = (0, 1, 2) is what that agreement makes available before anything is done with it.
• The second confinement is the release. 0 = N−N is the effectual: the return of the unit to the zero it was taken from. Applied to the ought-to set it gives (−1, 0, 1), which the record holds as the Cornering Walk's step alphabet {−1, 0, +1} (the corner; its reading The Glove and the Ring), and, turned, as the unit window [1, 0, −1] of the held conjecture's fourth window (the first held conjecture's matter). His 'present is', 0 = ((N−1)+1) − ((N−1)+1), is the first confinement folded into the second — the state 1 he calls the centrality of knowing.
• The truth maker −0. His third step solves for N = 0 before N = 1 and finds the −0 inside 0: "the held true of 0 prior to both 0 and 1". The record's identifier is the signed zero of the four states — a computable knowing that identifies the absence of a computable knowing — read on the deep line (opendata.ai/dlx; The Signed Zero) and in The Zero That Is Signed. His t = −0 and his single rule, t at state 1 = t at state 0 + t at state 2, is a held middle carried by its two neighbours: the Quad Hinge's law, two folded units agree on a shared 0 or it is noise (opendata.ai/quad-hinge; the-quad-hinge-held), and the Synthesis's seat between two things it did not make (The Synthesis at 5).
• The hold and the gate. His rule is "the prior for the onto-epistemic 'hold' of 1 in base 2, where it is subject to a logically held base 3 gate." The map's two rules are exactly a base 2 hold and a base 3 gate: halve when even, triple when odd. The house's reading of his second text, his to true: with n held across the three states, the right side of (n at t1) = (3n at t0) − (n at t2) is 3n − n = 2n — tripling minus holding is one doubling, the even rule read backwards. The halving step is what undoes the gap the gate opens. Under 5n + 1 the same confinement gives 5n − n = 4n, two doublings, and the window is no longer three states: the identifier is the signing pair 2, 3, "the only sequential primes" on the NTDU14 journal (opendata.ly/ldx/docs/ldx-ntdu14-review) — 3 the only gate whose difference from the hold is the hold's own base.
• The +1 is the gap between −0 and 0. His second text: the gap "is not jest a 'measurement problem' that can be scaled into some fractional drift in the epistemics." In the map the +1 is what makes 3n, odd, into an even number, so that the hold can act at all; were the gap fractional, parity would be undefined and the loop would not close. The record's identifier for an integral gap that cannot be scaled is the Hinge's held secret over any distance — space free, only the time-rate costing (opendata.ai/hinge; the-hinge-held) — and the Z lens's §13 (the bend at opendata.ai/rlx/bend; The Bend at 5), where "0.5 and 1.5 must be used under a base 5 'knowing of G'" so that the signed zeros keep which is x and which is y.
• The flip flop and the causal interior of 2. His fourth text reads the dyslexic bit by the exclusion !k — i over not-k — and finds it as the flip flop of 2/5 on the left and 5/2 on the right: the four pairs 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 read as one bit, so the even denominators carry no more than the unit window and the odd denominators must do the differentiating. His fifth text closes it: every other numerator is known after 2, so 2 is the reduction to a known equivocation between 2/5 and 5/2, and 2/1 against 1/2 is "the 'half life' of any such differential that is the definition of a prime diffferential." The identifiers: the 1D register's signing pair, 2 through 1/5 to 5 and 5 through 5/1 to 2 (Computing the 1D Universe at 5); the Riemann text's "when p is 2 it is constrained by a p at 5" and its "p/1 and 1/p a bit dyslexic" (/sx/matters#held-conjecture-the-line-to-eleven); the Equivocation instrument's known equivocation ([opendata.aiC:/Program Files/Git/eqx](https://opendata.aiC:/Program Files/Git/eqx)); the two-plane convention's causal interior, the plane the house never measures from outside (The LDD Reference). By hand: 2/5 · 5/2 = 1, 2/1 · 1/2 = 1, and 2/1 − 1/2 = 3/2.
• The why, then, as the reading carries it: under 1 = O + C + E the set (0, 1, 2) is what an agreed unit makes available, the return to 1 is the release the second confinement names, and the map's two rules are the hold and the gate that any such unit must pass between. That is the shape of the map, read from the definition of 1. It is not a bound on its orbits, and the reading says so again in its sixth part.

Four · The how — what the observatory has measured

• The reading places his hold, his gate and his half life beside the measured fragments of the observatory node that are of a kind with them. Each is a readout of a staked experiment on the record, kept as it fell; none is a measurement of the conjecture, and none was run for this reading.
• The hold at base 2 is measured. The Hallway (opendata.ai/contrib/hallway) — the corner's second-law instrument, sealed before any read and read once on 26 October 2026 — walked seven targets along the sealed ladder of walls ρ = 1, 3/2, 2 and 3 at budgets 2^8, 2^10 and 2^12. Its third hypothesis, the payload indifference, passed exactly at ρ = 2 at every budget: every target admits exactly two accounts at every rung at twice the quantum — one bit, whatever the target. It was killed at ρ = 3/2 and ρ = 3 and kept with full standing. The composition records the house's own estimate corrected: at ρ = 3 the count is two or three, a third account admitted only where the step is a hold, since the alphabet has no step of ±2. Two accounts at twice the quantum is the hold at base 2; two or three at three times, the third only on a hold, is the gate at base 3 carrying the hold's share.
• The signed zero holds at 3/2. The Hallway's fourth hypothesis recorded 100,628 signed-zero events over 84 walks: an account exactly zero took the step 0 in 21,492 of 21,492 cases — the completed 3/2 sitting at zero — and never a step of ±1; the sign changes on the six targets that never touch zero split evenly, 7,164 at +1 against 7,176 at −1 on the house target. His 2/1 − 1/2 = 3/2 is that rung: the half life of the prime differential is where the signed zero does not move.
• 2 locks 1. The Coco's B series (opendata.ai/coco; the-coco-held) measured the freeze and melt transition in observation scale and not in budget or time: frozen at about two moment-cells, "2 locks 1", and budget-invariant. It is the dyslexic bit 2/1 against 1/2 as a measurement rather than a reading — the unit locked by two.
• Two agree, or it is noise. The Quad Hinge (opendata.ai/quad-hinge; the-quad-hinge-held) holds that two folded double hinges reach the same fold independently — the fold at about 4.23, the ground's own precision, from both sides — and that a single folded unit without its pair is structural and temporal noise. His t at state 1 = t at state 0 + t at state 2 is a held middle of exactly that kind.
• The scale agreed, never the second lock. The Ruler's stages at opendata.ai/rlx (the-rlx-held; The Hold and the Carry) hold N = (N−1)+1 as the one thing two blind watchmakers can agree, with the smallest K in their synthetic agreement never revealed. His first confinement is that agreement, and the reading reveals no K.
• The channel. The Channel's edge (opendata.ai/channel; the-channel-held) is the log of 137 within 0.05 percent at its budget — a sample, not a constant. The reading carries it as the record's measure of how much one unit can carry, and claims nothing of it for the map.
• The known equivocation, with its fence. The Equivocation instrument ([opendata.aiC:/Program Files/Git/eqx](https://opendata.aiC:/Program Files/Git/eqx)) measured the compounding as dyadic, ×2 and not e — each dyadic epoch confines the 1 by exactly ×2 — and its size prediction was refuted clean and is kept as refuted. The reading cites it for the word his fifth text uses, a known equivocation, and carries the refutation with it: the record's identifiers come with their kills.
• The sponge. The XOR's sponge (opendata.ai/xor; the-xor-held) absorbs an open claim by re-grounding it on the shared prior, and a bare claim leaves a residual of exactly one — absorption is re-grounding and never a tolerance. It is the identifier for the +1 that is never fractional: the gap is absorbed whole or not at all.
• What these fragments hold together: a unit held by two, a gate of three carrying the hold's share, a signed zero that does not move at the half life, an agreement on a scale with the secret kept. That is the how of the map as the observatory has measured it — the shape his held conjecture names, instrument by instrument. What they do not hold: that every orbit returns. No instrument on the record walks the map, and the reading does not pretend one does.

Five · The agreement — being, knowing, computing, and the meta of the reading

• His sixth text, given as "the meta of the reading, taken from a separate knowing" and "to not influence the proof, but to give context to what logical proof itself is", verbatim, his spelling, his four points: "To 'be' anything is to exclude three possible knowings over three possible equivocations. To 'be' is the precedent and the acceptance 0,0,0." · "To 'know' is to occupy a seat that follows from the first interstitioan and then from the second interstitial, and to 'hold these two occupancies' as one." · "That is, to take 0100 and 0010 to unfold and hold as 00011. This is the 'knowing' from 'being' that is the 'bit shifted' computational 'knowing' from computing. 0100 and 0010 resolve to 00011 if and only if they remain under the observer referential 'knowing' that aligned the causal chain, the equivocations and the exceptions." · "The 'social' epistomology reads this as 3 from the seat of 5 and 1in 10 from the seat of 6."
• The house's bracket, by machine and his to place: 0100 is 4 and 0010 is 2; each shifted one place to the right is 0010 and 0001; held as one value they are 00011, which is 3. Five places read the word as 3, the seat of 5. The seat of 6 and its "1 in 10" are left as he gave them. The identifiers: the three excluded knowings beside the three states and the three equivocations the fifth text names; the acceptance 0, 0, 0 beside the Quad Hinge's shared 0 and the acceptance diode of the externality door (/sx/seb); the two occupancies held as one beside the two clocks read as seats and the held middle of his rule; the bit shift beside the Inner Circle's byte-to-bit flip (opendata.ai/contrib/inner-circle), which his thirteenth text on that line read dyslexically.
• The agreement is the point of the meta. The proof, in his words, is not about being, knowing or computing but about agreeing — that 0, 1, 2 is followed exclusively by 1. On the record an agreement is a measured thing: the Ruler's synthetic agreement on a scale (opendata.ai/rlx), the Quad Hinge's two units on a shared zero (opendata.ai/quad-hinge), the Hinge's held secret over a distance (opendata.ai/hinge), the XOR's re-grounding on a shared prior (opendata.ai/xor). Each is a case of two sides holding one thing. The set (0, 1, 2, 1) is the one thing this conjecture asks two sides to hold: the ought-to set and its return.
• What the social epistemology reads at five, in the house's words: that the agreement is the proof's whole content, and that it is made by those who take the seat and hold the set, not by any one of them alone. That is why the reading is taken at five and for those who would occupy the seat at five, in his words — the confinement of onto-epistemology by social epistemology is the confinement of what 1 is by who agrees to hold it.

Six · The absences

• What the mathematical register would ask, named as what informs the held conjecture and does not limit it. First, a bridge from "0 is true before 1 is true" to the parity rule, since the halving step is where every known partial result does its work — his second text supplies the bridge in the house's register, 3n − n = 2n, and the register would ask for it as a bound. Second, termination: that the folding he names, "known from the top, or grown into knowing from the bottom", ends at 1 from every start. In his frame that is the learner's walk and not the identity. The identity gives the shape of the map; the walk would give the return.
• The clarifications open on the matter, his to answer: C1, the dyslexic read 3n − n = 2n as the halving step; C2, the +1 as the gap between −0 and 0; C3, −1 < n < 0 as the signed seat; C5, 'ephemeral numbers' as a term of the house or his own; C6, base 5 as the Z lens's exchange base or a new object; C7, the learner experiment that would walk the folding. C4 and C8 were answered by his fourth and fifth texts. A ninth, the house's: this reading is placed on the shelf as a note for a care, and not as a held, because no door on the observatory returns it; the held conjecture's line design named held for the seat at five, and the kind is his to re-true.
• The walk with a name and no design: the learner. The Z learner at opendata.ai/rlx/bend (The Bend) learns up from 0 toward 5 and knows down from 10 to 5, and the two walks about the half designed on the held conjecture's line (/sx/matters#held-conjecture-the-line-to-eleven) remain unscheduled. Whether the folding of this conjecture is walked on one of those, or on an instrument of its own designed first and sealed with its kill before any read, is his word; nothing is scheduled by this reading.
• The seats after this one: the reading at 10, in the author's voice, for a reader outside; the reading at 11, the carry alone — one line, one number, no apparatus. Neither is drafted. The held reading at 4, which his Riemann line names, would hold this one from both sides and is not drafted either.

The carry and the release
